The arrival of a new issue of Lost in Waco is an event, so don’t miss the summer edition release party at One Day Waco on Thursday night. Designed to highlight local creatives as well as inspire readers to explore their own creative adventures, Lost in Waco takes a deeper, behind-the-scenes look at Waco’s cultural arts. Each issue goes fast, so this is your best opportunity to snag one.
Silent House Theatre Company continues its ambitious schedule of productions with God of Carnage over the next two weekends at McLennan Community College. A playground fight between two eleven-year-old boys leads to increasingly fraught interactions between their parents as the veneer of social niceties wears off.
Friday night jazz and acoustic music at The Blue Dog Wine & Martini Bar is a longtime Waco staple, but in July, you can also catch Bob Scott’s jazz stylings on Tuesday nights from 5 pm to 7 pm. If the weekend seems too far in the distance, this is the perfect antidote.
Other events of note:
You might not expect live music at Tony DeMaria's Bar-B-Que, but that changes on Saturday when Dustin Terral plays from 11 am to 1 pm.
WWE Wrestling returns to Waco at the Extraco Events Center for the first time in three years on Sunday night.
Tuesday night brings the latest installment in Wild Imaginings’ Contemporary Play Series with a staged reading of Mother Road by Octavio Solis at Rogue Media Network.

“Take It or Leave It” by Madstone
If bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, and Blackfoot bring a smile to your face, Madstone is right up your alley. While their Southern-fried rock repertoire isn’t for everyone, anyone who spent their high school years standing around bonfires outside of town on Friday nights—most likely drinking cheap beer and dreaming of driving a gray-primered Camaro—will find them to be a welcome blast from the past. So take your Sunday Funday to the next level this weekend when Madstone performs at Old Chicago starting at 8 pm.

“Creative Waco Brings Public Art to the People”
Public art, as the name implies, is freely available for everyone to enjoy. But unlike other cities, Waco currently has few pathways to create artwork that reflects the history, values, and ambitions of the entire community. To counter that, a new initiative spearheaded by Creative Waco is intent on creating more mechanisms for funding, selecting, and including the wider population in decisions about public art.
