The Brazos Nights concert series continues on Friday with Texas troubadour Robert Earl Keen. After 41 years of gigs, this is Keen’s final tour, so don’t miss your chance to see him—for free, no less!—at Heritage Square in downtown Waco.
The next installment in Baylor’s summer theater series is Circle Mirror Transformation. With just three performances over the weekend, don’t miss this story of five strangers in a creative drama class for adults that moves from the heartbreaking to the ridiculous and more.
Mission Waco’s Creative Arts Summer Camp begins on Monday, June 27, and runs through Friday, July 8. It features a choice of theatre, dance, or art tracks (or even a mix) for community kids/teens this summer and runs from 9 am to 4 pm each day, except for July 4. Even better, registration is only $40.
Other events of note:
Live theater this weekend also includes Mary Poppins Jr. at the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum.
Topgolf kicks off its summer concert series on Friday with Fenix Theory.
Monday Storytime at the Mayborn Museum Complex features Lieutenant Keith Guillory of the Waco Fire Department.
Now Hear This!
“Dreadful Selfish Crime” by Robert Earl Keen
Robert Earl Keen was Americana before it was cool (or even a thing)… back in the early ‘90s, he was just another country singer-songwriter trying to break out from the crowd. And while songs like “Barbeque,” “The Five Pound Bass,” and “Merry Christmas from the Family” are longtime fan favorites, “Dreadful Selfish Crime” best captures his wistful, melancholy voice that’s illuminated by his eye for detail.
