Easter is this Sunday, so you have a variety of events to choose from: an egg hunt on Saturday at Hewitt Park, a traditional Czech Easter celebration at Pivovar (also on Saturday), and on Sunday, the Eastside Market will add Easter-related activities for kids and adults to its regularly scheduled art, music, food, and shopping options.
The Texas Music Cafe took a few weeks off, but it’s back on Saturday night at Nexus Esports with a triple bill of Waco bands: Zet Zero, The Midnight Tradesman, and Zombie Western. Want a preview? Check out Alyssa Erchinger’s Zet Zero Song of the Week article.
Lovers of fusion BBQ were stunned earlier this month when Honky Tonk Kid BBQ announced it was shutting down after April 17. That means you have just one more weekend to try out — or revisit! — owner David Gorham's menu before he moves on to new culinary adventures.
Other things of note to do include:
Hear Kayla Ray play at Papa Joe’s on Thursday night as she raises funds for her forthcoming album.
Meet the candidates for Waco City Council and Waco ISD School Board on Monday night at the Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Eat lunch with the KWBU staff and on-air personalities at World Cup Cafe on Tuesday.

“Neon Moon” by Holly Tucker
Lorena’s Holly Tucker first came to national prominence on season four of The Voice, but she’s been steadily gigging before and since then around Central Texas and beyond. If you haven’t had the chance to see her yet, she’s playing Friday night at Freight Bar and will return in May for a performance with the Waco Jazz Orchestra.

“The Honky Tonk Kid’s World Tour”
Just a little over a month ago, Waco Insider food writer Angelica Mazé took a deep dive into the Honky Tonk Kid BBQ menu that includes traditional dishes and ones with a global flair. It’s worth your while to take another look at it, so you’ll know why you need to get there stat this weekend before it closes for good after Sunday.
