Bare Arms Brewing is becoming a regular venue for live comedy, and that trend continues on Saturday with The Dangerous Comedy Tour. Featuring seven rising comics from the Dallas area, you don’t want to miss your chance to see the likes of Dominique Thomas, Corey Cherry, and Jordan J in an intimate setting like Bare Arms while you still have the chance.
Saturday night also brings another taping of the Texas Music Cafe at Nexus Esports in downtown Waco. This week features East Texas blues band Steve Howell and The Mighty Men. Cleburne’s Bill Sibley performs too, and the show begins with another round of Jonna Mae’s Kitchen, a multiweek songwriter competition.
The Waco theater scene is more active than ever, and on Tuesday night, the always interesting Wild Imaginings presents another entry in its ongoing series of staged readings at Rogue Media Network. This month features Suzan-Lori Parks’ Topdog/Underdog, the darkly comic story of two Black brothers who are haunted by their pasts and forced to face the shattering reality of their future.

“Bacon Fat” by Steve Howell and The Mighty Men
A long-time denizen of the Shreveport, Louisiana, blues scene, over the years Steve Howell has opened for the likes of Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets and Bugs Henderson. His playing and singing, rooted in the rural acoustic blues and traditional jazz genres born in the American South, will appeal to blues aficionados.

Downtown Depot: “Shelley Gay”
Host Austin Meek talks with Shelley Gay, owner of Olive Door Imports in downtown Waco. She discusses the path that led her to Waco, designing with “wild abandon,” and why she says if Marfa and New Orleans had a baby, it would be Olive Door.
