Blues lovers get a double dose of guitar heroics when Eric Gales and Ally Venable perform on Thursday night at the Backyard Bar Stage and Grill. Gales, a guitar prodigy as a child whose career stalled at several points due to run-ins with the law, is touring to support his 2022 album Crown. For her part, East Texas native Ally Venable may only be 23, but she released her first EP in 2014 and has been a staple on the blues circuit for the last ten years.

Through this weekend, world-class tennis comes to Waco at the Texas Tennis Classic. Featuring players ranked in the men’s top 20–300, this tune-up competition for next week’s 2023 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, lets you see some of the best players around at Baylor University’s Hurd Tennis Center.

The current exhibition at Art Center Waco (ACW) features pieces by Professional Artists of Central Texas (PACT) members through March 11. In addition to the art, ACW has had a robust schedule of PACT artists giving talks and acting as guest docents.
This Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm, Cory Lind gives visitors the inside scoop on his artwork in the show. And if you stick around after he’s done, make sure to check out the monthly Heart of Texas Native Flute Circle concert from 1 pm to 2 pm.
