Arsenic and Old Lace, Da' Shack Farmers Market Opening Weekend, and World Water Day
Two sweet old ladies with a deadly secret, a lunatic who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and a nephew desperately trying to keep it all from blowing up—Arsenic and Old Lace is dark comedy at its finest.
Waco Civic Theatre is bringing the chaos to the stage for the next two weekends, proving that a play packed with fast-paced wit and perfectly placed absurdity never goes out of style. Skip it, and you’ll be stuck wondering why everyone else is still laughing about poisoned wine and hidden bodies long after the curtain falls.
Da’ Shack Farmers Market isn’t some lifeless supermarket display—it’s fresh, local, and built on a love for real food and good living. This year’s season kicks off on Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, offering not only organic produce but also gardening workshops, composting classes, and opportunities to learn where your food comes from.
Plenty of us talk about eating better and living sustainably, but everyone who shows up at Da’ Shack this weekend is making it happen.
The Brazos River isn’t cleaning itself—and neither is your conscience—so World Water Day at Indian Spring Park this Saturday is your chance to contribute your time and effort. From 9 am to 11 am, wade into a river cleanup before diving headfirst into WaterFEST, an afternoon packed with hands-on science, native plant sales, and even free popsicles and rainwater for those who show up to lend a hand.
Sure, you could spend Saturday doomscrolling through bad news about the environment, or you could be out there making a real difference, one bucket of trash and one bottle of clean water at a time.
