You won’t go to Dungeons & Dragons LIVE 3 at The Performing Arts Community Center on Saturday night for the plot—you’ll go to watch a bunch of lunatics with foam swords and bad instincts make it all up on the fly. It’s what happens when dice-rolling nerds fall into the hands of improv addicts and nobody bothers to stop them.
Sure, it’s not your typical Waco weekend fare, and that’s exactly why you should go see this chaotic, wildly unserious theater that hits like a fireball spell to the face.
Colt Wayne Keeney sings like a man who's been ghosted by God and left owing child support, and “Long Hours” is a song you laugh at until it kicks you upside the head. He doesn’t play honky-tonk—unless you count the avant-garde variety—he’s setting it on fire and handing you a beer while it burns. If you show up Sunday night at The Will and don’t feel something, you may be past saving.
But wait—there’s more! The Will has a full lineup of music for you at its pre-Memorial Day Sunday Funday: Reese Tate kicks things off at noon, followed by Tynlea Adair at 2 pm, Monte Rose at 4 pm, and Brazos Brothers at 6 pm.
