{254}DanceFest, 4th Annual Pinewood Block Party, and Silent House Theatre Company's Betrayal
While music and theater are well represented in Waco, contemporary dance fans sometimes get short shrift. Thanks to the indefatigable Doreen Ravenscroft—the driving force behind Cultural Arts of Waco—that changes this weekend with {254}DanceFest at McLennan Community College’s Ball Performing Arts Center. You’ll find yourself inspired and enlightened about this art form after performances on Friday and Saturday, which also includes a day of masterclasses for students.

The biggest shindig of the year in Waco’s Uptown returns on Saturday with the 4th Annual Pinewood Block Party. Sure, there will be coffee and beer galore, but you’ve also got the chance to hear a ton of live acts—including Thomas Csorba, Frankie Leonie, and Brody Price—and shop among super hip vendors such as Studio Grocery and Wildland. And did we mention the crawfish boil? Yep—this is the place to be!
Admission is $5.

This weekend brings Silent House Theatre Company’s latest production at the Mission Waco Jubilee Theatre: Harold Pinter’s classic Betrayal. It begins with a meeting between Emma and Jerry, whose adulterous affair of seven years ended two years earlier. The play then moves backward in time, from the end of their affair to its beginning, showing all the twists and turns along the way.
There will only be three performances, so make sure to catch this emotionally fraught drama while you can!
