Cameron Park Zoo's Shell-a-Bration, Brick Convention: The Ultimate LEGO Fan Expo, and Cedryl Ballou & The Zydeco Trendsetters

Cameron Park Zoo is throwing a party for the slowest rock stars in the animal kingdom, and Shell-a-Bration is packed with more turtle-powered action than you’d think possible. Meet tortoise ambassadors, get hands-on with crafts, and enter a raffle for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Herpetarium, where the real reptilian royalty resides.

Plus, feeding a giant tortoise at 10 am or 2 pm is more than a cool photo op—it’s a chance to lock eyes with a creature that’s seen more history than your entire family tree.

The Brick Convention at the Waco Convention Center this weekend isn’t just for kids—it’s for anyone who’s ever stared at a pile of LEGO bricks and thought, I could build something incredible. The life-size models, hands-on play areas, and meet-and-greets with professional LEGO artists will prove that plastic bricks have more soul than half the buildings in town.

Skip it, and you’ll be left scrolling through photos of people grinning next to towering LEGO creations, knowing you could have been there, basking in the pure, unfiltered joy of structured chaos.

Mardi Gras may be over, but nobody told Cedryl Ballou and The Zydeco Trendsetters—and nobody should. If you missed their Tuesday night show at the Backyard Bar Stage & Grill, Saturday night at BIG’s Mayberry Tavern is your next best chance to catch Ballou ripping through unexpected classics such as War’s “Lowrider” and ZZ Top’s “La Grange” like they were born on a washboard and raised by an accordion.

This show promises to be a full-blown dance riot, where the beer is cold, the zydeco rhythm is hot, and sitting still isn’t an option.
