Brazos Nights Concert Series, STEAMclipse, and Wolfram Research's Precision Eclipse
More events are going on this weekend in Waco than ever before—trust us, we counted!—but hands down the biggest thing happening is the return of the Brazos Nights concert series to Indian Spring Park with free shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
First up is Lukas Nelson with Band of Horses on Friday. Then, Big Boi headlines on Saturday night with Arrested Development and DJ Z-Trip. Finally, on Sunday, Kaitlin Butts and Ty Myers open for country superstar Dwight Yoakum.

Besides the eclipse being a spectacle, however, there’s nothing wrong with using it as a teaching moment. To that end, the City of Waco and ESC Region 12 are hosting STEAMclipse on Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm at the Waco Convention Center. It’s a free, family-friendly festival to celebrate the eclipse and build awareness of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math).
There will be out-of-this-world booths, stellar presentations, and entertainment fit for this event of a lifetime. Plus, representatives from NASA, the Lowell Observatory, and the Hubble Space Telescope will be there too!
Beyond where you’re going to watch the eclipse—and making sure you have high-quality glasses to view it with!—you could questions about this eclipse in particular and/or eclipses in general. One great resource is the Wolfram Research website precisioneclipse.com, which provides a report based on your specific location: exact start and stop times, duration, and a time-lapse sequence showing what it will look like.
