Brazos Nights: Bowling for Soup & Two Tons of Steel, Hotel Herringbone 1-Year Anniversary, and Claire St. Amant

Fingers crossed for clear skies: The Brazos Nights concert series returns this Friday to Indian Spring Park with Bowling for Soup and Two Tons of Steel, originally scheduled for April 4.

Bowling for Soup’s been slinging punk-pop power chords and punchlines since the mid-’90s, all with a Texas zip code and a warped sense of humor. These days, nothing’s mellowed: The hooks are still catchy, the guitars crunchy, and the jokes sneakier than ever.

But wait, there’s more! Two Tons of Steel opens the night at 7:30 pm with rockabilly heat and Texas swing that’ll have you two-stepping before the sun sets.

It’s outdoors. It’s free. It’s retro as all get out. What’s not to love?

Hotel Herringbone is turning one, and on Friday, it's celebrating the way every boutique hotel built from shipping containers should: with a blowout that hijacks the whole complex and dares you to keep up. SUNNN brings the alt-rock voltage, Dave Innis lays down smooth piano at Red Herring, and the rest of the music lineup is a genre-hopping smorgasbord that proves Waco’s got range.

Show up for the community market at 4 pm, stay for the wall-to-wall music starting at 7 pm, and—if you’re a VIP—lean back into lounge seating, open-bar bliss, and chef-crafted snacks that’ll make you forget you RSVP’d for anything else this weekend.

Also on Friday, true-crime TV producer turned podcaster and author Claire St. Amant takes the mic at Southern Roots Brewing Company for a killer night—part confession, part investigation, all reckoning with what it means to make a career out of other people’s worst moments.

Get there promptly—the night kicks off at 7 pm with April Pullen and Caroline Wolf, the chaos-and-cocktail duo behind Bloody Happy Hour, setting the stage. Come for the cold beer. Stay for the stories that will linger long after the night is over.
