Fairy tales were never meant to be sweet bedtime stories—they were warnings wrapped in nightmares, and Hänsel und Gretel is the best kind: a sugar-coated fever dream with a witch, a forest, and music so rich it could fatten you up for the oven. Baylor Opera Theatre is bringing it to life this weekend, which means big voices, bigger drama, and a score that hits like Wagner on a candy bender.
Don’t miss your chance to watch two kids outwit death while the music swirls, the witch cackles, and the orchestra drags you deep into the dark, delicious heart of the story.
Nobody is planning to end the Chiefs-Eagles showdown on Sunday with a ride in the back of a cop car or an overnight stay in county lockup, but bad decisions hit harder than an unblocked linebacker.

But for three glorious hours next Wednesday, The Performing Arts Community Center is throwing open its doors for the Forever Young Valentine's Dance, an evening where seniors take the floor, the music takes over, and time takes a backseat to the joy of moving, laughing, and living.
Enjoy free food, free wine, and a room full of people who know that the best way to defy time is to dance straight through it—otherwise, you’ll be kicking yourself harder than a jitterbug in ’52.
